A confluence of respiratory viruses, including the CoVid-19 virus and H1N1 swine flu, has caused an upsurge in H3N2 infection. Data from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) shows that the seasonal Victoria and Yamagata lineages of influenza B viruses are also in circulation.

Health experts advise individuals to adopt preventive steps, including using masks, practicing improved hand hygiene, and getting an annual flu shot as H3N2 virus-caused influenza cases spike in India.

According to the most recent information on IDSP-IHIP (Integrated Health Information Platform), as of March 9, the number of lab-confirmed cases of different influenza subtypes, including H3N2, has risen to 3,038. The respiratory virus spreads through droplets, so since most people touch their mouths and noses at some point, Dr. Rajeev Jayadevan, co-chairman of the Indian Medical Association′s National Covid-19 Task Force, says that secretions can spread from person to person when they shake hands with others. He argued that masks are essential, particularly at crowded indoor events.

Both the H3N2 and the H3N1 influenza A viruses are what people typically refer to as the flu.

The most typical signs of the illness include a persistent fever, a cough, a runny nose, body aches, and experience wheezing and dyspnea in more challenging situations.

The experts also urged individuals to wash their hands before eating or utilizing any public transit with soap or sanitizer to limit the risk of infection.
